John Harrison has more than 40 years of experience in the ice cream industry. His interest and expertise in ice cream stems from his family tree where four generations of his family members were involved in the industry.
In his youth, ice cream was his favorite dessert; during his college years, he worked (and tasted) his way through college at his uncle's ice cream plant in Tennessee.
Harrison joined Edy's Grand Ice Cream in 1982. Prior to his position with Edy's, he was with Dari-Tech, an ingredient supplier, for 12-years, where he was the National Sales Manager. During that time he also assisted as an independent consultant for Edy's new flavor formulas. In addition to Harrison's technical background, he also is an ice cream history and trivia buff. Answering questions ranging from fun facts on the history of ice cream to current trends toward decadent ice cream indulgences is just an added benefit to Harrison's job.
His expertise is so crucial to Edy's that his taste buds are insured for a cool $1 million. He has traveled throughout North and South America, visiting every ice cream plant on both continents and tasted more than a million gallons of ice cream during his career.
