Don't trust the company without researching their history.
Don't pay upfront fees for the service.

Work at home scams (secret shoppers, envelope stuffing, and recruiting)

Sweetheart Scams (Online Dating Sharks)
Don't agree to call them on a 1-900 number. You will be charged hundreds of dollars.
Don't send them money for travel expenses to visit you or to pay hospital bills.
Don't let them see you on a webcam unless they are on the webcam as well. You never know who is on the other side. Don't reveal yourself in an intimate way that is arousing. Later, if the scam is detected it will haunt you. They will start black mailing you.

Church Scams (Pastors, elders and affinity fraud)
Don't buy into the "once-in-a-lifetime" opportunity.
Do ask yourself- Why me? Why is this "too good to be true?"
Don't invest without pulling a criminal report on your new "friend."
The bottom line – Be responsible for your money and your decisions. THINK!!! Why is this such a great opportunity? Be careful, do your research and move slowly while you get advice from non-biased counselors along the way.
