1. Remember....you've retired from your job, not from life
2. Let go of "who you were". Many people are so identified with their job that they don't feel a sense of worth without it. It can lead to depression unless you can look at the new, different life ahead.
3. Allow yourself to make 'selfish" or 'self-centered' decisions. This is very hard for many people...(especially women but maybe I won't say that.) It's very hard to suddenly have the freedom to make some decisions that are more about you and not feel guilty...because we've done it our entire adult life.
4. Never lose your sense of humor.
5. Relate the Charlie Brown cartoon, on p. 9 of the book....the most important mantra or question to continually ask yourself..."Which direction is your deck chair facing?"
