•Let's start at Amelia-Fernandina Beach – Kelly Seahorse Ranch is a great place where you can actually go horseback riding on the beach. It's a great place to go with the kids.

Fernandina Beach is on the north end of Amelia Island and has quietly become one of the South's great bed and breakfast destinations.

Then if you like variety there is Washington Oaks State Park – it's not all white sand and has rocky coastline, much like you would see on the west coast, but without logging all of the miles. It is also one of the oldest and most treasured gardens in the state.

Then if you are into shelling – there is no place better in the world to me than North Captiva. You can rent a boat here or schedule a shelling tour. The Bailey Mathews Museum of Sanibel can show you what you can expect to find here. And, you can take any "un-occupied" shells with you.
