In honor of Mother's Day, moms got free access to Lowry Park Zoo on Sunday as long as they were accompanied by a paying son or daughter, giving visiting mothers the chance to check out some of the new animal moms and their offspring. About 2,500 to 3,000 people (and several dogs) participated Saturday morning in the 5-mile March of Dimes March for Babies, which started at the University of Tampa's Plant Park. Crowds also gathered in Safety Harbor, New Port Richey and Lakeland for similar fundraising events.
