Re: Drugging of children a diversion? So, is this to say also, that the men and women of today who are taking Prozac and other meds to treat anxiety, depression, etc. are taking something that isn't needed? I am certain that there are those parents who give the child something to just calm him/her down when unruly, but there are very real cases out there that can not go with out being treated with meds. ...more

Dear Abby: I am in an eight-year marriage that feels like a prison sentence. I have two children younger than 5 and a husband who is mentally and emotionally unstable and has severe addiction to prescription painkillers. If I divorce him, he will have joint custody of our children and, although I want them to know who their father is because they love him, I am terrified of what he might do to them as emotionally unstable as he is.
