Somebody needs to explain to me how health care costs can be the reason insurers want an increase in rates? All insurers have contracts with the providers (doctors, hospitals, pharmacies, etc.) The insurance company has fixed fees it pays for services to these providers. Over the past three years some of the fixed fees have been reduced by as much as 50 percent, as with MRI's and CT scans. I do not know of one service which has had an increase in payment by insurance companies. ...more

One of the jobs that every caregiver will have to perform is the daily dispensing of medications. Dealing with all the new drugs in today's world, this task can become extremely confusing. It's unbelievable that members of the U.S. Senate on both sides of the aisle are receiving so much resistance to make low cost prescription drugs from other countries available to Americans. Detectives arrested a Pinellas County detention deputy this morning while he was on duty and charged him with doctor shopping and prescription fraud. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said Michael Bowman was arrested following an investigation that started in August after the department received information he was getting treatment from more than one doctor with the intent to get prescriptions for hydrocodone and oxycodone. ...more
